Voice-to-SOAP Clinical Notes
Dentospire's voice-to-SOAP lets a dentist speak the visit in English or an Indian language and get back a draft note split into Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan, ready to correct and save on the patient's record.
The problem in a real clinic
With gloves on, you cannot type, so the notes wait until the patient has left. By the evening you are writing ten visits from memory, and the note says less than you actually saw and did.
How it works
- Open the patient's clinical notes and open voice dictation.
- Pick your language — English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi or Bengali — and tap the microphone.
- Speak the visit the way you would tell a colleague: what the patient said, what you found, what you did and what comes next.
- Press Stop & Save SOAP. A transcript in another language is turned into English first, then Dentospire drafts the four SOAP sections using the patient's complaint and chart for context.
- Read the draft, use Edit to correct any section, and press Save to add it to the patient's notes.
What you see on screen
- A large record button with a live sound level, so you can see it is hearing you.
- Your words appearing as you speak, before anything is turned into a note.
- The draft laid out as Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan, each one editable.
Safety and control
- Nothing goes into the record until you have read the draft and pressed Save.
- Every section can be edited, so a misheard drug name or tooth number is fixed before it is kept.
- Staff can use it only when their AI permission is switched on, and the check runs on the server.
- The note is written to the patient you have open, alongside the chart and complaint you already recorded.
Good to know
- It uses the browser's own speech recognition, so it needs Chrome or Edge. Other browsers show a message instead of the microphone.
- Each draft uses one query from the clinic's daily AI allowance, which rises with the plan.
- The SOAP draft is written in English, whichever language you speak in.
- Voice correction of a finished section, and server-side transcription, need the Starter plan or above.
Frequently asked questions
Can I dictate dental clinical notes in Hindi or Marathi?
Yes. Choose Hindi, Marathi, Tamil or one of the other listed Indian languages before you tap the microphone. Dentospire turns the transcript into English first and then drafts the SOAP note, so the saved record reads the same whichever language you used.
Does voice-to-SOAP save the clinical note without me checking it?
No. The dictation fills a draft split into Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan. You read it, edit any section, and it is added to the patient's notes only when you press Save.
Which browser do I need for Dentospire voice dictation?
Chrome or Edge, on a computer, tablet or phone with a microphone. Dictation uses the browser's built-in speech recognition, so no separate dictation hardware or software is needed; other browsers show a message in place of the microphone.
Is voice-to-SOAP included on the free Dentospire plan?
Drafting a SOAP note from dictation works on every plan and uses the clinic's daily AI allowance, which is smallest on Free. Voice correction of a finished section and server-side transcription need the Starter plan or above.
