Dental Charting

Dentospire's dental chart lets a dentist mark findings and procedures on each tooth and surface, for adult, child and mixed dentition, and keeps the chart on the patient's record with every change saved and logged.

The problem in a real clinic

A paper chart fills with arrows and crossings-out until nobody else can read it, and it never matches the treatment written on the next page. When the patient comes back after a year, you start the examination again because the old chart tells you too little.

How it works

  1. Open the patient's clinical notes and choose Adult, Pedo or Mixed dentition.
  2. Pick a finding or procedure from the palette — a cavity, pain, root canal treatment and so on — then click each tooth it applies to.
  3. Where it matters, mark the surfaces: mesial, distal, occlusal or incisal, buccal, lingual or palatal, and cervical.
  4. Procedures you mark create the matching treatments on the patient's record, so the work is not typed in twice.
  5. Add findings from an X-ray reading straight onto the chart from the analysis dialog, then print the chart, download it as an image, or send it to the patient.

What you see on screen

  • Upper and lower arches for permanent teeth, with primary arches shown for a child or mixed dentition.
  • More than one condition on the same tooth, each shown on the tooth you marked.
  • A periodontal chart alongside the clinical notes for gum measurements.

What the patient gets

  • A printed copy or an image of their chart to take home.
  • The chart on WhatsApp, if you choose to send it, for clinics in India.

Safety and control

  • Every chart save is written to the audit log, marked as a new chart or an update, with who made it.
  • If two people change the same chart at once, the later save is refused instead of silently overwriting the other person's marks.
  • Sending the chart on WhatsApp asks you to confirm first; nothing goes to the patient on its own.
  • X-ray findings reach the chart only when the dentist adds them from the reading.

Good to know

  • Tooth numbers on the chart use the FDI system.
  • Sending the chart on WhatsApp is available to clinics in India only; elsewhere, print it or download the image.
  • The chart records what you mark. It does not decide the treatment plan — build that from Treatment Plans.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dentospire's dental chart support children and mixed dentition?

Yes. Choose Adult, Pedo or Mixed on the patient's chart. A child's chart shows the primary arches, and a mixed chart shows primary teeth alongside the permanent arches, so a paediatric patient is charted on the teeth they actually have.

Can I mark individual tooth surfaces on the Dentospire chart?

Yes. After choosing a tooth you can mark its surfaces — mesial, distal, occlusal or incisal, buccal, lingual or palatal, and cervical — so a class II cavity or a cervical lesion is recorded where it is.

Do procedures marked on the dental chart show up as treatments?

Yes. A procedure you mark on the chart creates the matching treatment on the patient's record, so it appears in their treatments without being typed in again.

Can I give the patient a copy of their dental chart?

Yes. Print the chart or download it as an image from the chart itself. Clinics in India can also send it to the patient on WhatsApp after confirming the send.
